Bhumisq Mauritius, Indian Ocean coastal resort, villa-led with reef-edge beach club

A villa-led resort on the Mauritian coast, designed around the reef, the existing tree line, and a quieter standard of luxury.

The site already had what the building never could: a 200-year tree line behind the beach, a coral reef forty metres offshore, and a north-facing aspect that catches the trades. The first move was to mark every existing tree on a CAD drawing and pull the villa footprints around them, not the other way around.

Villas sit in clusters of three or four around shared landscaped courtyards. The beach club hangs off the reef edge rather than the sand, leaving the beach itself for guests and a public path. The treatment rooms sit deep into the planting, reached on foot through the gardens.
